Specializing in film, music, and pop culture, his work was impressive enough to catch the attention of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 2014, the the OSCARS commissioned Birchal to create a series of illustrations featuring costumes worn in some of the most famous films of all time.
