From 1892 through 1954, the U.S. Mint produced special commemorative coins for 53 different events, occasions, and individuals. This resulted in the production of over 180 silver and gold commemorative coins during that time period. Offered here is the first true silver commemorative half dollar struck by the United States Mint. It was struck to commemorate the teachings and ideals of African American educator and presidential advisor Booker T. Washington.
Offered here is a unique three-piece mint mark set with all three mint marks from the first year of issue in 1946 included in the set. The Booker T Washington was minted at all three mints including Philadelphia, Denver, and San Fransisco. You will receive the unique coins show with a certificate of authenticity.
