This museum quality piece is a very fine, original Imperial Rome Denarius of Emperor Geta, coined in Rome between 200-202 A.D.
Obverse: Portrait of the Emperor facing right.
Reverse: Geta standing left, trophy behind.
Imperator Caesar Publius Septimius Geta Augustus (known as ”Geta”) reigned 209 A.D. – 26 December 211 A.D. Born: 7 March 189 A.D. at Rome – Died: 26 December 211 A.D. (aged 22). Member of the Severan dynasty. Geta was a Roman emperor with his father Septimius Severus and older brother Caracalla. Both brothers unable to share power, culminating in the assassination of Geta.
