This meteorite was acquired from the Bethany Sciences collection and comes in a display box with an informational Certificate of Authenticity.
This ordinary chondrite fell in a shower in what is now Burkina Faso on March 5, 1960. It was originally thought that two falls occurred around the same area – the Gao fall and the Guenie fall – approximately a month apart, but they are now thought to have been the same fall in March of 1960 because the two meteorites are indistinguishable, so specimens discovered in the area are often called Gao-Guenie meteorites.
