Antique Mid-19th Century German Percussion Pistol
Product Description
A very nice antique mid-19th century percussion pistol, likely of military or service issue, manufactured by KöNIGL.WüRT.FABRIK (Royal Wurttemberg Factory). The Königlich Württembergische Gewehrfabrik was a state-owned firearms manufacturer from 1812 to 1874 and the predecessor of the Mauser arms manufacturer. The pistol is crafted from a dark-grained wood stock with iron and steel metal components, and features a brass ramrod. The lock plate is visibly marked "KöNIGL.WüRT.FABRIK." Further markings include a number "7897" on the barrel tang and prominent, possibly carved, numbers "1794" on the left side of the stock. The butt cap displays additional inventory-style markings "19.U.5.45" and retains a lanyard ring. Nice condition overall, with dings, dents and scuffs commensurate with age. It has a nice, rich patina, and the hammer holds cock, with a tight snap, some original finish remaining. Total pistol length 13.50”. Acrylic stand is not included, was used for photography purposes only. Ex Henderson, TX private weapons collection.
